Re: What is this?

I think that's the vacuum cansiter for the hood flaps on the early Z28's. Is your car a Crossfire car?

My guess also would have been a vacuum canister.

Re: What is this?

My car is a Z28 with the stock 305 tbi and no crossfire. Its not a huge deal seeing as it was'nt hooked up completely anyway. So obviously not anything crucial. Heres some better pics for the hell of it.

Re: What is this?

My 82 Z28 is (was) an original Crossfire car and had that canister. It had a vacuum line going to the hood (or the thing that controls the flaps....been awhile since I pulled it out). My 83 was an L69/5speed car, no Crossfire...didn't have the canister.

Re: What is this?

Well I did some more research and found that in my car it was used as a reserve vaccuum canister for the heat and ac controls in the dash. I guess it helped keep an even temp inside the car when the engine was at WOT. Any way I dont think I'll be putting it back in for now. Thanks for all the help!!
