Re: need more help w/iroc

Well if you just did valve seals that means you just adjusted your valves as well? Unless im miss reading it and your saying that was done the car ran fine and then this developed? If im correct in my understanding my guess is an intake valve is too tight not allowing the valve to seat so every time that cylinder fires it blows past the valve and pops in the intake. Almost sounding like pop corn is cooking in your intake. Another possibility is an exhaust valve is too loose not opening and letting the hot burning exhaust gases exit so when the intake valve opens the fuel is instantly ignited backfiring in the intake. Either way i would inspect the valve train for proper operation and check the adjustment of the valves.

Also although your timing sounds ok check the plug wires to make sure the right wire is going to the right cylinder.

sounds like backfiring - check all plug wires for continuity, check all plug boots make sure they are on plugs good, double check firing order, set timing with the vacuum line to the distributor plugged, or the EST disconnected if CC carb.

Reajust your valves. sounds like you missed one. As a rule all ajusting nuts should look to be at the same spot on the studs.
