Transmission issues?
I have a 1989 camaro with a 305 out of a monte SS and I got a 700-R4 attached and Everytime I put the car in a gear it instantly dies and I have no idea why. the car finally starts just dies as soon as its put into gear. I checked the tranny and there is no vacuum lines on this car. the tranny worked good after I got it back from the shop so its not the issue any help needed!!

Re: Transmission issues?

What do you base your advise on?
Just swapping in a new computer may not solve anything.
Could be any one of many sensors attached to the computer.Could be unrelated to computer like bad fuel pump not supplying enough pressure or faulty injector , bad spark control module.
The lockup convertor in the trans could be faulty stalling the engine when put in D
There is a sequence of tests to perform to establise the problem before you waste good $$$ on a new computer
Guessing and throwing parts at a problem costs $$$

I agree, check your sensors first. What is your TPS set at? what is your IAC look like? what are your idleing at in Park/Neutral? TV cable?
It sounds like you have the opposite problem of me. When i first set the TV cable it was so tight that when i put the car in drive it would chirp the tires.

Re: Transmission issues?
The car doesn't have a ecm anymore It was all for the V6 the motor is a straight carb with a Hei distributor I found the fuel pump was bad and I think i might have to get bigger jets for the carb so I'll try that and see what works.

Re: Transmission issues?
Jets wont effect the idle. Only the idel mixture circuit do. Jets come in later.
