Weird part. What is it?

Okay, I have been putting my car back together and found a part which I cannot determine what it is. I have looked through the GM manual and cannot find it anywhere. I took it to every auto parts store and they have no idea. The only thing I can think of is it may be a check valve/vent for the fuel tank that attached to one of the tubes coming from the fuel sending unit. Let's see what the pro's think? Pictures are attached. What is it and do I need it?

Thanks!

gas tank check valve thingy, lets air in but not out when the tank gets empty, id just replace it, might as well, they connect to one of the four hoses at the tank. you need it. peace
