Need help rebuilding 350TPI
need some help wit picking some brands and parts to rebuild my 350TPI wit some mild upgrades..I wanna keep the engine mild, I am gonna get high flow runners and port the top phenum aftermarket intake and all..really I need help matching the cam with other parts like lifters,rockers,springs...I just got a comp cam magnum roller timing set in today so need parts to match it as well..I'm gonna reuse the stock L98 heads just redo them...gonna go wit hooker headers wit flowmaster muffler...I'm not gonna go cheap when rebuilding the engine, I have $4K to spend on the engine so need stuff that will last..need to know what type of cam I should use, if you could get me some part numbers from like summit I would be happy and I wanna keep the lift at .460 down just a nice lope at idle...and what type of pistons to rods and so on..need part numbers to what would be good for a mild 350TPI...thanks alot and have a good day

Welcome aboard thirdgen.org.
If you're willing to up your budget a tick, this is one bang-up deal http://www.sdparts.com/product/SD360...ripEngine.aspx . Mild enough for daily driver use, enough power to make you proud, already has some of the upgrades you're talking about (and needs others you're talking about).
If you really want to rebuild your engine, Speed Pro hypereutectic 12cc dish/relief pistons, rings to match, decent bearings, etc. Cam - the Comp XFI series is pretty popular (but higher lift than you're talking about), as long as your timing set is for factory roller type cam, you're good to go there ("lope at idle" and "TPI" should not be used in the same sentence). No need to get new lifters or pushrods (unless you know there is something wrong with your roller lifters). When you redo the heads have the top of the guides cut down for positive type stem seals, and have Manley valves & good springs put back in.

Re: Need help rebuilding 350TPI
yea thought of doing that but really wanna keep the same engine in the car...I had a 87 iroc wit a 1999 vortec 350TPI engine that ran like a LS1. All I knew about the engine was that it had a cam, headers, chip, prom chip flowmaster...it was race ready but got cought up and had to sell it hope to get it back one day...just still wondering what I wanna do wit the engine in my 89 iroc..it only has 72670 miles not rolled over yet...
