fuel pump relaced, now my car "hisses"

had my pump replaced a year ago, now when i shut it off, if you stand by the car for a little bit you hear this hissing noise (kinda like a snake) that lasts for a few seconds. sometimes it does it a few times. what is going on? the only thing i cant think of is something is releasing some kind of pressure or something... idk.

so its been doing this for about a year? any performance problems? What part of the car does it do it; engine bay, rear, inside? Sounds like some of the built up pressure is releasing from the gas tank. I'd check your gas cap, maybe time for new one...

no it ran a low 15 second quarter mile but every once in awhile it stalls out when you come to a fast stop. idk if it could be the gas cap, when you go to fill it up there is a ton of pressure release when you take the cap off. it sounds like its coming from the rear of the car, by the gas tank. i had a guy look at it and apparently the shop that did the fuel pump replacement really did a hack job. what could be causing that noise???

I see my 1st response didn't take-Mod-sorry if it shows later..??...

In short--I will agree w//HCR13.The tank is getting rid of over pressure or NEEDS more air in it to help w//displacement.
How long can you drive b4 problems?
I could go 30-40 mins then sputter & stall.I took off the gas cap slowly--as I did,I would hear the hiss//woosh as it came off.I haven't had any problems running w//out a cap--I need a new one.
IDK if there's a way to clean them or re-work them???

Not long ago, there was a similar thread with similar answers EXCEPT 1.

If you are confident the cap is good, try this:

Check all lines & hoses going into the charcoal canister for kinks, splits, tears, cracks,& being plugged, etc.

i really don't have any problems with how it runs, my gas guage doesn't work so i think the stalling out just happens when its extremely low on gas. otherwise it is very very reliable. it's been on several 400+ mile trips and it runs good. its just that hissing is a little scary. a friend of mine heard it when we were doing a tune up and he actually ran away thinking the car was gonna blow up lol.
