Removing Air Pump change timing?

I removed the air pump because it started ticking and rerouted the belt.

Could this throw of the timing? I havent had the emission stuff hooked up in over a year and have no cat but left the air pump or smog pump on so i didnt have to run a new belt but it was ticking and i removed it. Car ran fine for 30 minutes and now idels low. Sounds as if its gargling

The belt doesn't have any effect on timing.
