looking for help with new mods

hey guys, im a new owner of a 89 GTA and am trying to prioritize my list of mods in the best order to do them, looking for any input. Its a 5.7L and so far i have a magnaflow 3" catback and cold air intake. As far as engine goes, for now im just thinking bolt ons, everything else applies, suspension, cooling etc. New wheels and tires are first on the list. And if im doing SFCs i want to do everything else with it within reason that will compliment the rigidity/handling aspect. Setting up for the street, some track time. Thanks!

Re: looking for help with new mods

definatly do the sfc first, get them welded in. Then make sure you have good tires and good shocks and struts. Then i would do a wonderbar, steering brace for the front end.

Check over the sway bar end links and mount, make sure they are not broken or bent.

chack the front end steering components and balljoints, replace as needed.

Make sure the oil is fresh, flush the cooling system, service the trans if it has not been done recently, maybe service the rear.

then when money allows,

Change the strut mounts to at the very least new replacements, or upgrade to a good aftermarket mount with a spherical bearing as opposed to the factory rubber one. IT wil really tighted up the steering. Check out Hotpart.coms strut mount, probably the best on on the market.

Headers will really compliment the CIA and catback, and grab a good high flow cat at the same time.

if you want more, you can upgrade all the suspension parts with lighter tubular pieces from a variety of suppliers, Spohn, UMI performance, BMR fabrication, globalwest, ect. Then its really depends on what you want to do. A car built for twisties and one form stip wuse will need different setups, different shocks, tires ect to be most effictive.

Good call 86ta, thanks. So i hear what SFCs do and i get it ive had 3 prior fbodys before and never had them, is it THAT noticeable? what most? handling, rigidity, power transfer? also, other than CIA and exhaust what are the best places to start for bolt ons for some hp gains?
