hi guys i have a 89 gta (350) with some leaky valve seals. i plan on fxing them in the spring but i've been woundering if it would be worth it to also get them ported or would it be better to just spend some extra cash and get some new ones?
i also plan on putting a new cam in it at the same time, if money allows. do i need to pull the motor to install it or can it be done with it still in?

You don't need to pull the heads to change valve seals, but the proper procedure needs to be followed so the valve does not fall into the cylinder. If your going to pull the heads anyway and want them reworked new valve seals would be replaced anyway.
the cam can be changed with the motor in the car but you will need to remove the radiator and the ac condenser

Re: 89 ta
so i've been doing some reading and i guess porting my current heads woln't do a whole lot, well not as much as i would like. so it looks like i'm gonna look at some new heads. any suggestions on heads? my price range is 400-500. should i figure out what cam i want first and get heads to match, or the other way around?

so i've looked and i think i have narrowed it down. what are your thoughts on either of these heads?

and what would be a good cam to go with either of these heads? it don't matter if i have to get another tune, if that helps. i'm looking for something a little choppy but still drivable. thanks
