My friend picked up an 88 rs yesterday. however there were no keys for the hatch/doors. there doesnt seem to be a working hatch release switch. how can one get the hatch open?

 

Try going in from the inside. Take off the plastic parts and tinker with it there. I had to do that with my first camaro. I bet you will find the cause there. Most likely.

 

inside the ceter consle of inside the plastic in the back? i tryed taking the plastic trim out but couldn't get it off in the back since it goes around the hatch lock. my next step was to go through the wires where the hatch release should be.

 

Does the car have electric hatch release? If not, you can manually pop it from the inside. Crawl in the back, pop out the cargo light, and you can see the latch mechanism. However, if the power release solenoid is in place, it blocks both ways to pop it.

i cant seem to get the trim out..and i dont know of what cargo light you are talking about. i dont think there is one. i have all trim off aside from the rear what i need. i have found the wire harness on the driver side. is it possible to get one of the wires to open the hatch? it is an auto hatch
