Idle issues 1989 transam 305 tbi

Last year out of the blue my car wouldn't start. I don't know why I did it but I clear flooded it and it started. It would then idle at a very low rpm. I could keep it running by staying on the gas a little bit. Once it started rolling performance was normal. This condition would come and go. After it would get up to normal operating temp the idle would improve but was still a little low and would stall occasionly. You would then have to clear flood it again to get it going. Anyone run into anthing like this?

See if your car has a cold start valve on it.When you start up when engine is cold it sprays a certain about of fuel.Once the engine is warm it will bypass that valve and start without it..Not sure if TBI has it though some TPI do.

Thanks. I have no idea how the cold start circuit works, in fact I started this search trying to find just that. I guess I could go buy a manuel, but I'm in the proscess of selling it and it would be nice to fix this so the next owner doesn't have to deal with it.
