L98 Head Intake Size ?

Just wondering how the intake openings on my stock 350 heads match up to the intake holes on the base of my Accel Super Ram base? Would porting the base increase airflow or would it hinder performance. I was thinking if I ported the base too much then the air would hit the rim of the head inlet. I know when your porting you dont want air running from a bigger opening hitting a smaller opening as this creates a bottle neck. Also, what gasket should I get to best match the head/intake combo? Thanks

They won't match up perfectly as is, but you'd have to pull the heads to do it right. The Accel base should have come with some paperwork saying what gasket to use. I think it's a Fel-Pro 1204.

I wouldn't bother with trying to port the intake until the point that you've pulled and ported your heads, or swapped to better heads. Port matching of the intake does very little if anything to improve power and actual porting of a manifold base is very difficult. The Accel base flows very well as is.

Re: L98 Head Intake Size ?

Hi, thanks for the info. I did some searching on here and have seen alot of people talking about the 1205 and 1206 gaskets. Is the 1204 a definite or does it matter that much?
