Re: yes, no, maybe so?
The LS1 guys do it all the time. The recipe is simple. Ported or aftermarket heads, a TR220 cam, headers, LS1, T56, 3.73 or 4.10 gears. And 27 mpg hwy on a regular basis.
to do it with a traditional SBC, you'll have to use nitrous or boost, AFR180 heads, and a high lift cam with a good smooth idle.

Re: yes, no, maybe so?
well, i got an LT1 the other day. it had been sitting outside for awhile without the intake manifold on sooo... yea. cant complain though because i got it free. its goin in an 86 firebird that i bought from a fellow student for $300. first project car, its probably gonna take me alot of time and money but i wanted to go naturally aspirated. its a learning experience and im still learning alot. i was thinking of stroking the engine out to a 383. it'll probably be a little while before i get the money to really start doing anything so ive got some time to learn. ive already learned alot from this site, its awesome.
