Radiator questions on my 86 TA

Ok my 86 Trans am needs a new radiator. Right now the car has it's stock 305 with 5spd but I plan on doing a 383 in the next couple months. I'd like to buy a radiator that would also be good for a 383 so I won't have to buy another one down the road. I'm thinking an aluminum high flow would do the trick. Any thoughts on this? Where would be a good place to buy one?

Thanks!

I've heard that the Summit "direct fit" radiator is not a direct fit. Don't have any first hand experiance though, a search in the cooling board might help.

Have you seen this thread? https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/cool...guys-want.html I'm considering this radiator for the 400 going into one of my cars.

Re: Radiator questions on my 86 TA

I used the Summit Al radiator, 31 x 19. Made new brackets for it out of angle iron. Works like a charm. I wouldn't spend the money on the Be Cool or other unit, seems to me like they are way over priced. The Summit one works great, I still had money to buy a Stewart water pump, and in the long run I was still money ahead of the Be Cool unit.

Good luck. I have pics of the stock vs Summit unit on my Car Domain site if you are interested.

Right now Jegs is having a sale on universal radiators and they come with a free mounting kit.

Re: Radiator questions on my 86 TA

I ended up buying one of the champion radiators from ebay that toomany posted above. Will have it in a few days and will post how it works out and fits.
