TPI head and cam questions
My car is an 85 Trans Am with a TPI 350 that was swapped in years before I bought the car, my cousin is the previous owner and he says that the engine was put in the car by the guy he bought it from. He was told that the block and heads are from an L88 Corvette, and they matched the old stock 305 TPI setup to the 350 from the Corvette. First I want to know if that would even be possible with out modifying the PROM, (I'm not sure if the cam would work with it) or did the guy just say that to help sell the car? I was told to look for the block numbers and the casting numbers on the heads but I can not find them anywhere, I just want to know exactly what I have sitting in my car, I'd like to rebuild it and maybe get a different cam and heads but I dont want to end up down grading because i dont know what i currently have. I think its an LT1 but i have no idea how to figure this stuff out. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

L88 with '85 TPI on it? Not likely, since the L88 was a big block.
L48, that I'd believe. Probably the low point of Gen I SBC 350's. The TPI wouldn't even notice the difference between it and the LB9 that was in it from the factory.

Re: TPI head and cam questions
Thanks, I finally figured out which heads I have they are 14022801 that I am going to guess are off from the 305 that was stock to that car. Now if I can only figure out exactly what the block is, I might have a buddy help me pull the engine in a few weeks and rebuild it, swap the tranny and rear end. And then just pull the numbers off the block while it's out of the car and can get a good cleaning.
