quick question about resetting the IAC.

it says on a tech article after replacing it has to reset and you have to manually reset the idle to 450 then the ECM will automatically reset itself to 600 RPM but it doesnt say whether you set the idle while its in park or drive. thanks for any help

Re: quick question about resetting the IAC.

Thanks for the quick response!!! So what should I be idling at if it's running right? Right now it runs around 850 rpm in gear and between 1100 and 1300 rpm in park I always thought that seemed a little high

Re: quick question about resetting the IAC.

The technical article you refer to says when you set idle at 450 with IAC unplugged, then it should be around 600 in drive and now plugged back in. That's what mine did, but that was in neutral since I have a 5speed. So I figure 600 in Drive and a little higher in neutral makes yours sound a bit too high. Really not an expert, I just read and followed the directions in that section.
