Just picked up another '87 sport coupe
Question, if it's dated as being manufactured in 08/87, will it have a big chance of being roller?
Second, I'm debating on an engine swap or a blower with a 6" cowl or fixing up the 305.. (I'm looking to run mid 13s, nothing special)
Pros for blower: The heads I have are 081s, and I'm thinking that in combination with 7 psi from a weiand 142 the results should be decent..close to that of a 350 with a mild cam. I'm not sure what size the primaries and collector should be with blower, same with the back piping.
Cons: I don't think the Q-Jet would work? Might with a new chip but I don't know..
Swap: My other option would be to put in a 350 short block with 081s, and the rest of the stuff off the 305. Headers would be easier to pick and so would the cat back.
Cons: I think it'd be more expensive to build the engine or have it built and installed.
305 Pros: It's already in, heads are decent for 300 hp without spinning it to the moon. This would be a lot cheaper, saving money for things like aluminum water pump, and other minor adjustments to the suspension and trans. Any idea on a cam that would put me around 275 rwhp? Also, does the engine have to be lifted to install a cam? I've never done it myself.
Cons: 305
So out of the three, which would be most cost/power effective and put me into the 13s. I'm not looking to build a super car, just something that'll run pretty quick times and have gears near 2.73 for mileage. As of now, I've done nothing but pick up new tires.
Thanks

I've heard the 383s need to be rebuilt quite often, having to drive 100+ miles a day, I need something reliable, unless what I've heard is wrong.
