junk or not? i cant decide...

i have a set of 882 heads that are not cracked, i got em for free and i cant decide to have 2.02/1.60 valves put in and have them milled and fully ported and everything done to them so i get the proper combustion and flow for my engine or not.

they would be going on a .030 350, it has been decked and all, flat top pistons, tunnel ram intake with dual 390 holleys, 1 3/4 headers, havent decided on a cam yet, i would like to run high octane fuel but if i have to run race fuel or mixed thats fine, so what should i do? i want to stay old school with this one too, it will also have the springs to accomodate the cam and roller rockers

btw throw in some cam ideas if you would, i want a non-roller

so pretty much, are the 882 heads going to hold up to all this? like i said they are not cracked and will be milled and ported

for the money you would put into the heads you could buy a nice aftermarket head that will outflow the 882's even with porting. In order to make a good cam suggestion whats the compression ratio, rear gear, trans, car weight, and stall speed would help alot in making a good cam choice.

my rear gears are 3:73, stall would be about 2500 and compression would be 11:1 probably, my trans will be a rebuilt th350 with a stage 3 shift kit, and yeah ill probably just buy aftermarket heads then, the car weight is whatever a 1988 firebird weighs with subframe connectors, i dont really know the weight

sorry for the delay are you on a budget the heads are were you want to spend the money. if on a tight budget and can do a little extra work E.A. heads work wonders but if you dont want to do the work dart or airflow will do the job. But as far as cam goes (sorry always been a fan of comp cams) I would go with wait a min is the block set up for a roller cam or flat tappet if its roller it should have in the center of the block taped for a spider brace to hold the rollers in?
