Transmission?
I am not sure what trans I got becuase original owner did not know when I bought the car. As far as I know the trans is a 700r4 due to its rectangular pan shape but I would like to know exactly what trans I have. I have a 1986 Pontiac Firebird with the 305 4bbl carbed engine and 10 bolt open differential. If anyone has a car like mine then that would be a big help. thanks
Re: Transmission?
If the pan is rectangular with no corners trimmed it should be a TH-700R4. Being a 1986 it may have a 7 vane pump or 10, may or may not have an anti-abuse valve, and may have a secondary accumulator. You need to look at the alpha tag on the trans to determine exactly what you have. Your other option is to tear it down and start cataloging parts.

Re: Transmission?
When you say trimmed you mean that the corners would be rounded instead of making the 90 degree angle right.
