Some Help

So my car has been sitting for a few weeks due to carb being sent away to get proper blow through. I was instructed to remove the distributor and have it locked out. I marked where I took the distributor out with a sharpie. I also have a MSD BTM in which I noticed a power wire which is not hooked anyplace it splits off the wires that connect to my wiring harness. But anyway's after getting things ran I tried to fire but 0 spark and it cranked over fine. I removed the cap to find that 2 wires running into the distributor for the MSD were unhooked. After hooking it back up and finding spark I attempted to start the car but now am getting a grinding sound upon cranking the car. I am totally lost. I know the distributor is on correctly because the car was at TDC and it will only go back in one way. Any help would be appreciated.
