regarding the smog pump...sort of

alright so ive been digging around under the hood getting rid of the unnecessary and after replacing the alternator had a question arise. my smog pump has been disconnected since i purchased the car almost 3 years ago before going to Iraq my first time. when i replaced the alternator i had to do a little tinkering with the bracket to make it fit just right (i guess the aftermarket isnt exactly the same measurements?) well there are some air hoses running along the valve cover to what looks to be some sort of pump? directly above said smog pump. i was curious if it was related to the smog pump and if so since its disconnected can i remove that whole mess and be done with the clutter?? ive seen many pictures on this site and dont usually see all of that stuff in the pictures so obviously it can be removed. just hoping i can get rid of it this weekend. pictures enclosed with the area mentioned circled. thanks in advance guys

You'll need to compensate for the extra belt length required by the pump.
I assume that by "disconnected" you mean the electrical connectors to the valve you outlined in the pictures.
Once you remove all that be sure to crimp shut the air line to the Cat.
I don't know where in Texas you are, In houston most do a visual inspection so I know I can't remove mine even If I wanted to which I don't.

The belt has already been removed from the smog pump and been rerouted or replaced with a shorter belt so that everything else still works properly. I'm not sure since it was done by the previous owner

The square part with the discs on the sides (looks like Princess Leah's hairdo in Star Wars) - that's part of the smog pump system.

The smaller round thing with the rubber hoses running to it, has a vacuum line on top that runs towards the firewall - that's the heater diverter valve - it has coolant in it. The heater diverter valve opens when the settings are on WARM and allows warm coolant to circulate though the heater core in the car, when set to COOL it closes via that vacuum line, and keeps the coolant from circulating through the heater core (to help reduce in-cabin temps).

Alot of us delete the heater diverter valve as well - you just have to reroute the heater hoses and plug that vacuum line.
