A quick question..
so ive been buying engine parts for a couple of months. well yesterday i started building my engine ( a 71 block) and when i went to install my main caps they all fit except for my rear main one(the oil pump mount).. if i got main caps from a late 80s/one piece rear main will the rear main cap not fit? any fast replies are very nice!

Re: A quick question..
If the main caps are not from your exact motor, then you need to take the motor, with the caps, to a machine shop. They will need to either line hone or line bore the motor. Do not do anything untill you do this.

Re: A quick question..
I just reread the years of the motors and that is your problem. You need older caps. The newer ones will not work. Ecspecially the rear one where the oil pump goes. That one is going to be 100% different between the two motors. You need to find older caps and then take the caps and block to the machine shop.
