I need help

So my car is running really rough. It jerks when i try to accelerate and has now progressed to just rough running in general. It has become very sluggish at take off especially but it doesn't show any engine codes. The problem seems to worsen as the car heats up as well. The car is an 89 firebird with a 305 tbi manual trans. Clutch has just been replaced. Is this a trans problem? Or something to do with gas?

Re: I need help

Check for vacuum leaks.
Check for burnt plug wires, plug wires having come off, etc.
Do a search for TPS adjustment - there's a thread or tech article here on it - test/adjust the TPS and IAC.
Might try replacing the ICM in the distributor.

All I can think of for now.

Re: I need help

Ok so I tested the TPS and it was bad. I replaced it and have it set perfectly and its doing much better driving wise. But at idle and at pretty much anything under 2500 rpm the needle jumps. It doesn't smoothly go up and it surges at idle. Idle is right where it should be but just goes wild in like a 150 rmp range. Any ideas on this?

Re: I need help

Have you checked for vacuum leaks? Check fuel pressure as well. Surging idle could also be caused by an ignition misfire.
