Is it ok to use Dextron III instead of power steering fluid?
I want to replace the power steering fluid, and I have tons of DextronIII. I have heard that it can be used in place of power steering fluid, but I thought I would ask some of you gear heads first.

Re: Is it ok to use Dextron III instead of power steering fluid?
For automotive use, there's usually no problem with using Dexron as PS fluid. (There's no T in Dexron). They're all basically a hydraulic oil with very similar characteristics. Dexron has a red dye added. For many years, it was recommended to use Dexron as PS fluid. Some more modern PS systems require a proper PS fluid but chances are Dexron will still work fine.
