Assembling bare heads..
I want to buy a bare set of heads from Summit, vortecs in specific, how do I figure out what size valves I need? Nothing comes up for suggested parts? I know the valve faces are 2.00 and 1.55 but what about length and stem diameter? Thanks

Please post us a link to the exact heads you have in mind. If you haven't bought the heads yet, please wait until a few of us have chimed in.

I guess that would have been a good idea in the first post, kinda spaced it.

Those heads aren't bad, but there are better choices for less money. If you already have a Vortec-style intake manifold, the RHS ProTorker Vortecs would be a wiser purchase. More flow, less price, cheaper valves, more potential, less intake port volume, better iron, thicker decks, et cetera.
Alternately, if you're not already locked into a Vortec-style intake manifold, the Brodix IK180 heads are the same money, virtually same flow, but are aluminum, and also offer cheaper valves.
Both of these choices are entirely American, while the iron Vortec Bowtie heads come from Mexico, if that matters to you.
You could get those heads, then have them cut for regular 2.02/1.60 valves, but I fail to see any advantage. They take traditional 11/32"-stem valves.

never let the character of a few people deter you from reading any forum that might answer your questions. After you do enough reading, you'll figure out who is both knowledgeable and friendly, if blunt, then you can just sent private messages to those people. And if they don't have your answers, they probably have an idea of who might.
