Need to ID part on sending unit.
Need to ID part on sending unit.
Forgive my ignorance please..I'm putting this sending unit back together.. looks like a valve of some sort I'd like to know what this is..
and if it's worth trying to replace. Will it affect how the engine runs?
Is this an emissions thing? I'd like to just leave it alone..
Autozone and the dealer had no idea..

Re: Need to ID part on sending unit.
does that line connect to a vent at the point where the sending unit lines meet up with the hard lines going to the front? I believe it is a filtered vent, and as long as its not clogged shouldnt affect anything.
i just had my tank apart and saw a similar, but not exactly the same thing. i dont have an in-tank fuel pump though.

Re: Need to ID part on sending unit.
on the other hand - it could be a pickup point for the fuel vapor line that runs up to the vacuum canister feeding the purge tvs/canister control valve. again tho - if its clear its not going to make a big difference in performance to leave it or replace it
Re: Need to ID part on sending unit.
Well. It's not a liquid fuel line. I know that much. I took it apart. It seems like a one way valve that if enough pressure is forced on it.. it will vent. But blocks in the opposite direction. The metal case is split around the edges and it's really going both ways right now. Not sure how to remove it completely from the sending unit. When you bend the tabs up.. a plastic piece remains firmly seated in the top of the unit. I wonder if it's a pressure relief valve of some sort.
Re: Need to ID part on sending unit.
Someone replied to me from another source. Good info I guess..
Hello Floyd, The part you are talking about is called a Rollover valve. It does just what it is named. If the vehicle was to roll over upside down it closes and stops the fuel flow to the engine compartment.

Re: Need to ID part on sending unit.
Is there a part number on that part? Anyone know if this is something that can be bought at an auto parts store? Mine is clogged and am going to try spraying carb cleaner in it but would prefer to install a new part.
