Just bought my 3rd gen.... afew questions
I just bought my 1991 camaro rs it had a 350 with a mild cam swapped into it and a 400 trans i think. I paid $2100 for it. I have a few questions. first of all some of the ignition wires got burnt on the headers so thats getting fixed first. but also the tach is waaaaaaaaay off lol. I read the thread on how to fix it but I have no clue in electrical so my question there is if I buy a redlight tach and install it will it work? also when I shift into 3rd it grinds in is this normal? And then just one more, the idle is too high im thinking this is because of the cam. After I sit for 20 seconds or so idle drops to what sounds like normal. (5,000rpm on the tach lol) So I was wondering if I should just leave it or adjust it. Thanks so much for the help in advance and sorry for the noob questions.

TH400? As in, automatic? Can't say I've ever heard an automatic grind into gear, but that doesn't mean it can't happen.
Does this car have a carburetor now?

Sounds like you need to figure out exactly what you have. I don't think any 5speed was ever referred to as a '400'. You have a standard 5sp tranny that was probably stock in the car.
Check the engine to see what it is - on the driver side, behind the head, on the top of the block, there will be casting numbers - they are almost impossible to see - try a small mirror and a small flashlight - let us know what you find, because EVERYONE says the car has a 350 when most time it's a 305. the 305 will have "5.0" in that location.
TBI looks like a carb, but when you take the air cleaner off, you'll see 2 injectors inside the unit.
