Won't stay on!

This happened a few weeks ago now, story goes like this. I was at a gas station getting water and then gonna get fuel, fuel level was extremely low, been driving the car a week at this point, turn on the car to back up into the pump car acts like it doesn't want to stay on so I let my foot on the throttle for a bit it stays on kinda rough and turns off as soon as I pull into the station. Fluid levels are fine, put in some gas, off we go..not really car turns on with a lot of convincing via the throttle but will not stay on unless my foot is on the gas. Get a tow home, park it, battery loses charge so I recharge it still same problem, runs very rough and you can hear a vacuum leak close to the intake manifold on the right side (2.8 FI) I replace a bad hose leading the the vacuum canister that is making that hissing noise, I have yet to recharge the battery as it lost its charge again so I don't know and don't think its fixed yet, I did remove the interior and found the cable leading from the shifter through the firewall is corroded completely too with rust from a bad floor pan. Sorry for the awfully long post but wanted to get in as much info as possible.
