bad problem
bad problem
We recently rebuilt the 305 in my car. We put a edelbrock intake, shorty headers and xe 268 cam on it. Now it misses like crazy. It runs very rich and when you stomp it it'll bog and occasionally pop back through the carb. We've had two dfferent carbs, 2 distributors, new wires, plugs cap coil, button everything I know to do. It still does the same thing what could be causing this? I did tighten my rocker arms down to tight and ran it for now more than a couple hours just idling and revving up slightly in the yard. The reason I say that is because somebody told me i could have worn the cam out but I can't see it doing it that quickly. And when i changed the oil there weren't any sparkles in it that I could tell.
Thanks

Re: bad problem
You said you tightened the rocker arms down too tight? Are they not opening your intake valves fully?

If the rockers are too tight, you'll either not close the valves, or you'll bind up something.
You can easily flatten a cam lobe, or bend a pushrod, or break a valve spring, or punch a hole in a rocker arm, or burn valves/seats - in minutes.
