I NEED HELP!!

I got a problem with my 1990 IROC, it has a 5.7L TPI, it starts and drives but it won't accelerate, it goes up to about 2000 rpm and starts backfiring and shakes a lot, any ideas what it might be?

Re: I NEED HELP!!

Any codes? Could be a clogged cat. Is that dual or single cat?

Well the truth is that I just got my camaro and don't know too much about it, I would say it's a single cat, it has dual tips coming out to the back but they come out of one single muffler.

Re: I NEED HELP!!

A cat definitily sounds like the culprit but dont forget about the basics. Fuel and ignition. Make sure you have good plugs, wires, cap, rotor etc. Make sure you have correct fuel pressure and volume. Could be misfiring. A quick was to check for bad cat is to remove the 02 sensor. If it gets ANY better, suspect cat. Also make sure you dont have any vacuum leaks or bad MAF (if it has one).
