rattling sound in 1984 V6, can't figure out, please offer suggestions
was racing around like an idiot in my bird, high rev<just below redline> and sure enough she broke, it started making a rattle sound whenever it was running, worsens on acceleration.
already marked off transmission problem and just removed the belts so the accessories wouldn't spin, still making the sound though. i think it's a problem in the block but the engine still runs fine, not burning oil or running rough.
just this dull metal banging sound.
i've taken the car off the road and spent the last few months trying to figure out what it was, doing as little dis-assembly as possible to avoid creating extra work/more problems.
only works that's recently been done to engine was a new timing chain by a certified mechanic, car ran fine after so i don't think it's that.
so, any ideas, please. i have some mechanical skill but am trying to avoid having 300 parts and a million lose bolts laying around, to find out all i needed was to remove a valve cover.
