no spark
ok, so i found time to mess with the maro some more, got tdc set, went to start the car, and i'm not getting any spark, was using a timing light to see if i had spark, nothing on #1 wire, or on the wire from coil to the top of the cap.
this is a '87 lg4 cc hei dizzy i have the 4pin plug plugged into the dizzy, the 2 prong plug from the harness to the coil plugged in, and the smaller plug from coil to fron't of dizzy unplugged, as if memory serves me correctly that is the advance, and needs to be unplugged to set initial timing?
now, barring something going bad while the car sat, there were no problems with getting spark before i had the engine out, and i really don't know much about the operation of dizzy/etc so i'm thinking i probally left something unplugged or something, so school me, what all needs to be plugged and where? what all should i check?
thanks

Re: no spark
Ok... I'm not sure how different an 87 Camaro is from a 90... buut I just set the timing on mine, and the only wire to unplug was the vacuum advance, and that's nowhere near the distributor... it's a small wire, was brown with a white stripe in my car on the right (passenger) side of the engine. I'm not a mechanic, but I'd be willing to bet the reason you aren't getting a spark is (in part) because you've got the wire from the coil to the distributor unplugged... unless I'm mistaken, that's kind of essential to the system. Like I said, I'm no mechanic, and I'm not privy to much knowledge of the ignition system, but I *think* that's something you need plugged in.

Re: no spark
Awesome.
Mine just died today... well, not died, but as I was driving home from work, all of a sudden I had no power, and as soon as I pushed the clutch in she stalled... gonna have to figure that out soon, as it's my DD. :/
