Excessive heat - should I be concerned?

This happened when we had our car in a parade several months ago. Outdoor temp was maybe 60-70 deg F. The parade was extremely long (2+ hours) and the car basically just idled the entire time while inching forward at < 5MPH. Towards the latter half, I could see a light / white smoke coming from the passenger underside (outside the car, not inside). It wasn't very noticeable unless you looked really hard, but it was definitely there. I could also smell the fuel tank purge valve (over the rear wheel) releasing gas every so often.

Given the unusally long idle time we had that day, should something like this be expected? The engine didn't seem to overheat. The car didn't stall. And I have the 3" hooker welded all the way to the tailend (it's a few years old). Nothing was done underneath the car prior to when it happened (no paint, etc.). Any insights guys? Should I be concerned?

The car is not a regular driver, but the times I do drive it I haven't noticed the smoke. Then again, I'm usually going must faster than 5 MPH, so maybe it's there and I just don't see it.

didn't happen to notice the actual temp, but the reading seemed normal (needle wasn't outside it's normal range). The fan is always on from the moment I start the car (I know...that's not how it should be, it's just an issue from a PO that i have yet to figure out.)

it should be fine then i cant tell you where the smoke was from but if it was from the cooling system venting coolant it wasnt overheating just expanding some, shouldnt have done any damage
