Question:::

I'm not sure if this is the right spot for this question, i have an 84 trans am and it gets very hot inside, especially the centre console. Just wondering if anyone else has this problem either. My old 86 firebird was the same way. Thanks for any responces.

Re: Question:::

It's normal, the console is right over a hot transmission and right next to a hot catalytic converter.

Re: Question:::

I had that same problem when I purchased my '83 Camaro new back in, well....'83.

I have a 5-speed manual and after taking delivery I became aware that the shift area and console were noticeably much hotter than what would be considered "normal". Although at first I was told by the dealer it was normal, I persisted and finally they found some kind of a "heat protection plate", or whatever the nomenclature is, was missing under the console. After the plate was installed (under warranty of course), the heating problem went away.
