Smog Pump Delete on 86 TPI 305 - Alternator mounting?

Hello,

I am putting my 1986 TPI 305 back together after my HSR install, and I have elininated the AIR system. The Alternator bracket was bolted together with the SMOG pump originally, and I am getting ready to reinstall. Couple of things I was thinking of:

1. Bolting back in the SMOG pump and bracket (without any plumbing or drive belt connected of course), then figuring out how to re-mount the alternator later....OR

2. Asking my friends on ThirdGen.org if they had any suggestions.

Please share any recommendations, etc. Many thanks in advance!

I'm assuming you're talking about the bracket that looks sort of like a pistol.

That style of alt bracket was used as an alt bracket before somg pumps were added to it.

Unbolt the smog pump from it, and put it back, and let it continue to be the alt bracket that it really is; life will be good.
