Looking for opinions or suggestions on valve combination

Hey all I'm looking for the pros and cons to running a different valve combo in a set of fully ported 601 305 heads. Here's a little background for the engine, it's a rebuilt 1988 L03, .030" over 9.3:1 static comp w/60cc chambers, ported edelbrock performer rpm intake, 1 5/8" shorty headers, lunati 00016 bracketmaster II cam 218/218 .458"/.458" lift 110lsa.

The heads are the 1.84"/1.50" 601 heads. I've gone through and ported the heads and am getting ready to do the valve job and am thinking about stepping up to a 1.94"/1.60" combo but don't particularly care for how close a 1.94" vlv sits to the head gasket flame ring. I know alot of peoples run the 1.94"/1.60" combo how well does it actually work? I think the vlvs maybe shrouded by the chamber wall with the 1.94's? I found a set of 1.90"/1.55"vlvs that I can use or is it just better to stick with the sotck 1.84"/1.50" valves

Re: Looking for opinions or suggestions on valve combination

When I did my #416 heads, I changed intakes to 1.94 but I left the exhausts at 1.5. But I certainly have no idea if that was good, bad, or indifferent. Seemed to me that it was fine, definitely an improvement over the TBI boat anchors, and my machine shop guy told me it should be good like that. But I have no numbers, and I'm certainly no expert. BTW I also went with 1.6:1 rockers so all the valves opened a tad more.
