Emissions under the hood
Emissions under the hood
I was thinking about pulling out my 305 v8 out of my firebird, but my only issue is there is just so much stuff under the hood crammed. I am new at cars, so this is a big step for me. I just noticed theres alot of emissions hoses and electronics that i have no idea what most of them even do.
All help is greatly appreciated and if you guys know a book that will tell what all of it does that would also help

Re: Emissions under the hood
A standard Haynes manual will help significantly.
It all looks imtimidating, but it's all quite simple. Most all electrical connectors only attach to one spot, and most everything else will alos only attach in one way. Get a roll of masking tape, and a good ink pen, and mark all wires and vacuum lines upon removal. And take as many components out in assemblies as possible (like keep the radiator hoses attached to the heater diverter valve and remove it as a 'spider' looking assembly with all hoses attached).
At least you can tell what your looking at under these hoods, as opposed to anything new.
