fuel pump strainer help

1988 GTA. Getting ready to reinstall new pump and strainer. I did not pay attention to which way the old strainer was oriented before i ripped it off. I think it was facing opposite of the float. It is not centered,(strainer) it is off to one side. Also, replace old pulsator? or just leave it alone. I believe this is original pump (was my father's car since new) Any pics of this would be helpful. Thanks in advance.

I don't have any pictures, but I believe it is parallel to the float.

Can't help you with the pulsator. Perhaps someone else can chime in.
