1987 Z28 tpi vs 1986 Sports Coupe 5.0 Carb

hi, i just buy a 1986 Sports Coupe all stock with all features.... it comes with a 5.0 carb but yesterday i go out for a short trip just to check suspension and something and i feel that it doesn have so mucho power it feels very weak...

in the other hand, i have a 1987 Z28 5.0 TPI with AT, this one feels more sweet and strong that the sports coupe, unfortunatelly the Z28 has a big problem with the general chasis and i think this one would never go out again... (so i have a lot of interchageble parts for the 86)

so this is the question... if i change the Z28 engine and transmision to the SC would i earn more power? i will change the Z28 engine but without the Tpi i will use it with the carb...

WHAT DO YO UTHINK ABOUT IT??? thanks everybody...

In my opinion, some increase maybe, but not worth the swap if going to keep the carb.

Part of the hp differences between a 305 TPI and a 305carb is in the TPI setup.

If bothering with a swap, I wouldn't do less than a 350. Your carbing anyway, and the stock carb will run fine on the 350. Sell the TPI motor to someone looking for TPI, lots of folks desire TPI setups.

TPI adds torque, but not HP.

TPI had better cam and better exhaust. If you can, move the exhaust over as well.

Do you license it in SD, or TJ?

TJ... i bought the TPI in Las VEgas and the Carb one in Pasadena... but im fixing them in TJ...

In fact the TPI comes with Aftermarket Headers (nice sound), a 3" tube and a Flowmaster 80 Series i will install all of that in the 86 Carb...

thanks Dude...
