Are you using the 3 braces on serpentine set up?

Hi guys, very informational site you have here. The Team Chevelle site recommends ya quite often, so here I am. I tossed a lil 92 305 from a caprice in my chevelle, but with headers and tall valve covers, the braces wont fit. Are they really necessary? Thank you!

Yes, I have 2 broken brackets because the braces were loose or missing. With headers they are easily made to work, all you need is a longer stud, a sleeve to space the header flange to the thickness of a cast manifold and a nut. There really is nothing to it.

Spacers are available in the hardware section of Home Depot, they are metal, about 1.5 inches long, and about a 3/8 hole in them. Then, just use longer studs/bolts.

Thanks guys. I had thought about weldig a stud to he header flange and re working the braces to fit. I just didn't want to go through the effort if you guys don't use them.

Second link in the following thread provides part numbers and instructions:

https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/afte...rsion-kit.html

In the thread there are various pics of braces and spacers.
