spark checking.
hey guys, if you put your hand on the spark plug boot while its cranking will you feel the spark? and with computer controlled distributors don't you have to put a piece of wire between pin A and B for it to work without it being plugged in to the computer? And is it okay for the ignition wire to go from 12 volts to 10 volts when it's cranking?

If your ignition system is in good shape you won't feel a thing. You don't need any jumpers to get it to fire without the computer. Voltage drop during cranking is normal.

How come I can't get a reading when I'm testing the coil? I'm doing the secondary reading where you measure the TACH and the ground to the secondary terminal and all it says is 1? I put in a new coil I don't understand.

I'm measuring the ignition coil secondary resistance between the TACH terminal and the secondary terminal (that rotor button thing on the bottom of the cap).
Then the ground terminal and the secondary terminal. The ohm meter only says "1" on both tests I want to know why its not saying anything. It's supposed to have around 15000 resistance for both right? I'm at the end of my rope on solving this. I mean I guess I could just get another distributor that's new but this thing is bugging the crap out of me.

You're right, the picture is wrong. I just did the test and I'm not getting a reading though still. I don't know what else to do it doesn't make sense to me . I got the meter set to 20k, nothing. I'm pretty sure I'm doing it right because I can get a .7 between the BATT and TACH.
