Harmonic Balancer Pulley Length
I've been having pretty good luck with my engine since the rebuild (that some of you probably remember because of all the issues such as the pistons), but I now have another problem I didn't foresee.
My 89 originally had a 305 and I swapped it with an 89-90 350 truck engine and the pulleys lined up fine, but it now has a 93 truck engine and the crank/balancer pulley is too short and ate the belt in half.
I originally thought I had the belt misaligned, but today I had to change the oil and while up on ramps, I happened to notice the crank pulley sits back a little more than it should and does not line up with the other pulleys.
I'm not sure if I can take the pulley bolts out and buy some washers to put behind it and shim it out a little or if I will need to get another pulley altogether, which I don't have the money for. I know I would probably have to get longer bolts and make sure they were high grade hardened bolts. Lowe's has those fairly cheap.
Is this feasible?
I'm assuming the harmonic balancer is the same as the 89. I wish now that I still had the old engine to swap them. Darn it!!!
Thanks.

order one from classicindustries.com just give all the information to them and they will send it to you. (Money) involved of course. Ya should have put all outside accessories from old motor onto this one if possible.

It's the only car I have to drive right now and I don't know how long half of a belt is going to last.
I have another belt in the trunk in case this one breaks, but at this point I don't even have the money for a third one if it eats both.
Unfortunately there were no accessories with the 93 block other than the water pump, which was bad.

Re: Harmonic Balancer Pulley Length
I was actually able to find 3 bolt small block pulley shims! Three pack for $21 with free shipping on eBay; didn't know they existed! They are different thicknesses, so I'm sure one or a combination will work.
As soon as I can come up with the $$, I'm getting them!
I'll have to figure out what type thread it takes so I can get longer bolts. All I know is they are grade 5 - 3/8" diameter bolts, but I can't find information on the thread.
I guess I can go back to my uncle's and take one out to see.
