I have the 305 TBI camaro it idled high and stalled in gear. I changed distributor cap and rotor with the plugs and wires still idled high and stalled i smell a rich mixture i got no codes i adjusted the idle screw 2 1/2 turns out and it idles now at about 1300 rpm and in gear its about 700-750 but sometimes still stalls out maybe after a minute or so i also sprayed everything for a vacuum leak i think i hear one but hard to hear over the injectors spraying any ideas would be appreciated

 

Sounds like a lean condition. How is your injector spray pattern? It's fairly common for the fuel pressure regulator spring to breakdown and cause a drop in fuel pressure at the injectors. This translates into a lean condition. Also, check the EGR valve for sticking open.

 

well i smell fuel? like a rich mixture? how would tht account to a lean mixture as your saying? and i checked the egr valve its good and the pattern is ok the pass. side one is slightly clogged but tht would make a lean mixture.. but yet again i smell fuel as if a rich mixture is present i am trying to use fuel injector cleaner for it currently

 

Too lean will actually cause lean misfire, resulting in unburned fuel out the exhaust. Its that exhaust that burns your eyes.
