Crank but no start HELP
So I just wired up my new MAF sensor (its the same style as the old one with different wire colors) and I turn the car to the on position and then after 1 second the pump stops priming and then the car wont start. The wires are completly different colors from before but the plug is the same with the same letering and all! What the hell is going on???

Re: Crank but no start HELP
I replaced the underhood fuse with the right replacement and the pump would prime and the die. So I went to 25 and same thing. Then at 30 amps the car would start and run like crap, smoke alot, and after a subtle rev die. Do I need to get a bigger fuse or what?

Re: Crank but no start HELP
Should I go with a 40 or something because the new MAF plug is causing nothing but problems.

I bought the 40 amp fuse and the car would still take a long time and it ran like crap for 5 sec. Now when I have it unplugged the car starts and run like it used to (fine but not good like it should) this is wierd.

Re: Crank but no start HELP
You said you wired up the new MAF. Was the other plug bad or something? I'm guessing you had a good reason to change the plug. Is there a possibility even if the MAF looks the same that it could be for a different car? Different wiring setup?
It sounds as though the MAF isn't sending the right signal to the computer for you air flow. The way I understand it the MAF has a "hot wire" that the air flows past this changes the resistance of the wire sending a different voltage to the computer that it interprets as amount of airflow.
If the car will start and run with the MAF unplugged, and doesn't burn the fuse, it sounds like it has to be in the MAF circuit. I would say double check you wiring job make sure you don't have any wires touching each other. If you still have the old plug check and make sure that you have your wires in the right order to on new plug.
Good luck.

Re: Crank but no start HELP
Whoops I forgot all about this thread. It turns out that I had actually wired it wrong after doing it twice.
I found that out after I took it to O'Reillys where the guy pretty much came out, gave me some crap for doing it wrong, and then after half an hour was able to wire it all correctly.
So now the car starts amazing, runs amazing (I can go full throttle but I still need to get a tune up because it runs on like 6 or 7 cylinders), and it still stinks but not as bad.
I had to replace it because when I bought it I found the plug lying on the belt and it was worn to crap and needed replaced.
