HEI burning up ignition modules HELP!!!!!!!!!!

okay so the other day i started my camaro up, mind you a 454 carbed swapped car, just to keep it fresh. drove it to the gas station and it was missing something fierce hardly any power. so i replaced almost everything in the distributor, cap rotor and coil, besides the pick up and checked all the wires and still same miss. so finally after 6 modules im afraid to pay for another one just to burn up. im almost positive its a ground problem though because i notices out of no where my gas gauge started to work which it hasnt worked since i dropped the tank to paint underneath??? how could i fix this or what do you guys think is wrong??

I have a bud with a 66 Chevelle, also burned up modules, until he bought a MSD brand module and hasn't had any further issues in months now.

Re: HEI burning up ignition modules HELP!!!!!!!!!!

If it's creating too much resistance,it will cause the module to overheat and cook itself.

Re: HEI burning up ignition modules HELP!!!!!!!!!!

I went through like 3 Accel modules in a many months... then bought a borg warner module and it's been fine since. Food for thought. I have an Accel coil also.
