Fuel Tank Info
Couldn't find a forum for fuel related posts so I just put it here. If it belongs else where please move it to the correct place.
So acouple of weeks ago my fuel pump went out. Dropped the tank to change it out and found that the inside of my tank was shot. So in the quest for a new fuel tank I did a search of the forums here and found out that there where 2 styles of baffling inside the tanks. Couldn't find any info or pictures detailing the difference. Just that the later style tank was better. After alittle time spent at the local pick and pull I found the difference took pictures. Yeah not the greatest pictures but hey its an Iphone its what I had. Hopefully this saves someone alittle time effort and money.
The first picture is of the inside of a fuel tank from a 85 Z28. This is the low profile baffling that causes the pump to suck in air when low on fuel and in a corner.
The second picture is the inside of my gas tank from a 92 Z28. This is the prefered baffling set up. I'm sure there are better set ups out there this is just pure stock.
The Third picture is of the replacement tank I ended up installing. Its from Spectra. http://ecat.spectrapremium.com/apps/...roduct_catalog
Fit right in to place with no issues. Also comes with the later style baffling inside.
