Coolant guage

So when I revv my car up a couple tiems only while driving 50mph and up my temp guage appears to keep going up to 260degrees and at idle sometimes my fan doesnt come on and it takes awhil for the guage to drop.

If I check real engien temprature with an inerfed thermometer my engine runs around 210-223 degrees.

Whats going on here?

Re: Coolant guage

mine does the same thing and I used an IR thermometer to check it as well. I am pretty sure it's the gauge itself that is the issue.
