My Fatal Mistake...
Long story long,I bought a pair of "vortec" heads,in the dark, from a trusted friends son.
I pulled a flashlight out,saw the intake bolt pattern, paid him,and threw them in the trunk.I stopped by the machine shop the next afternoon to mag them, they have been freshly surfaced, but I still wanted to know for myself.
As soon as the first intake valve was popped out,I knew something was awry.
As it turns out, these heads that are "straight off a 1998 5.7",are actually 059,305 vortecs. My dumb *** didn't even look at the chambers,as I said,I trusted the kid.
He swears he's going to make good on it,but considering that 24 hours after the purchase,he's already spent the money,I have a feeling that it's $200 GONE.
The heads were intended for my 1 ton 4x4 tow rig, which currently has a stock 94 350 from a TBI truck, with an Edelbrock Performer intake and a mild cam, stock TBI heads.Cam specs are:
Intake Duration at 050 inch Lift
210
Exhaust Duration at 050 inch Lift
218
Duration at 050 inch Lift
0.447 int./0.462 exh.
Lobe Separation (degrees)
111
Grind Number
CS X4 254H-11
I have a feeling I know the answer to this, but is there any advantage to the 059s vs. my stock TBI heads? And if so,enough to justify the cost of the intake?
Let er' rip,and remind me how stupid I was to trust ANYONE.

No go for you.
12558059...97......305..........Vortec, truck, 1.84"/1.5" valves.
I'm willing to bet they are 58cc chambers instead of the 64cc chambers found on 350's as well.
Pulled it off Mortec.com, which seems to have bit the big one. But the Way Back Webmachine saves the day.

Re: My Fatal Mistake...
you may be able to get them machined for 1.94 intake valves. worse comes to worse u may end up with higher compression ,and u may have to run higher octane.
