Ok, set my timing tonight to 6* before TDC with the wire unplugged. Car ran great until it went into closed loop. I literally sat in the car and felt it start to run like crap. It finally smoothed out a little, but now it has random misfires every few seconds. Any ideas?

still misfiring?
what else did you change or was effected when you did the timing? any accidental bumping or jarring of stuff when you wrenched on the 9/16ths hold down bolt for the dist?

You messed with the timing and now it runs like crap so that's were Id start . Check every thing you touched during the original adjustment including the EST and distributor cap.If everything is in order unhook the EST wire and back the timing to 2*,if that dose not do it set it at 0* and see if that works.
I think I might have found my gremlin. This car was stored for 3 years. I have been having hard start issues with it. It's pig rich and stinks like all get out. First I checked timing. The dizzy was a little loose so I set it. Then I was messing with the cap and it had come unseated from the base. It now starts like it should, but I think the cap and rotor are bad or maybe moisture got in and screwed up the pickup coil. I'll have the module tested tomarrow afternoon and see if it's good or not. It's after midnight here so testing the pickup will have to wait as well. I'll post the results when I have them checked out. Hell this might solve my running rich issue. If you want to check out what I've done so far, look in the TPI board for TPI RUNS ULTRA RICH. That will give you a heads up on the hell I've been dealing with. Thanks for your reply.
Nope all I did was set timing. I have a crows foot for the dizzy bolt so I didn't bump anything. I think it's a crappy cap and rotor. It seems as if it's just gotten progressively worse. Maybe the module is trying to die on me too.
