Steering help

I installed a steering column i got from a scrap yard today. The shaft in the steerin column I got is about an inch shorter than the original one. I've pulled and pulled and cannot get any mor length. I know I've seen them or the jeep stearin column swap, but does anybody know where or how to fab up a bracket to lengthen it a little bit. Need one within a few days? Like a piece of metal on each side that bolts to the shaft and where the shaft goes??

Re: Steering help

I'm uncertain, from your description, what your needs are. The Jeep intermediate shaft, when collapsed, will extend some (as will the Astro van shaft).

It's a stock camaro steering column, the shaft is fully extended but still an inch too short, there's a bracket on here under a jeep swap thread ( I'm not using a Jeep one) but more or less just want a bracket like this. An guidance on where to find one or how to make one. Bc it'll be the perfect length to connect my steering column shaft and the shaft that goes into the power steering.

About half way down.

Re: Steering help

Did you try bolting the intermediate shaft to the column, then lightly hammering it downward toward the gear box? I can't imagine that it's too short.
